Juan Claudio Valenzuela Sologuren

Juan Claudio Valenzuela Sologuren was born in 1967 in Leuven, Belgium. He is an economist from the Technological Institute of Santo Domingo and holds a Master’s degree in Political Science from the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. He joined the Chilean Foreign Service in 1991, after graduating from the Andrés Bello Diplomatic Academy.

Throughout his diplomatic career, he has served both in Chile and abroad, with postings at the Embassies of Chile in Costa Rica, Peru, and Paraguay.

He also served as Head of Protocol for APEC 2019 and COP25. Between 2021 and 2023, he was Consul General of Chile in Mumbai, India, where he led the opening and operational launch of the new Consulate General in that city. In 2023, he served as Consul General of Chile in Salta, Argentina.

Likewise, between May 2024 and November 2025, he served as Director of Protocol, Privileges and Immunities at the Directorate General of Ceremonial and Protocol of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile.

Since November 2025, he has been serving as Ambassador of the Republic of Chile to the People’s Democratic Republic of Algeria.

He speaks Spanish, English, and French. He is married and has three children.
