LEGALIZATION DEPARTMENT

Objective: Through the recognition of signatures, it legalizes or certifies public and private documents issued in Chile and overseas to make them valid.

Documents issued in Chile

In order to be valid overseas, documents must be certified by the relevant national authority and legalized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile and the corresponding accredited foreign Consulate in Chile.

Documents issued overseas

In order to be valid in Chile, documents must be certified by the relevant local authority and legalized by the corresponding Consulate of Chile. In our country, in turn, these must be legalized at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

IMPORTANT: Any person may apply for the legalization procedure and the only requirement is the presentation of documents.

When a document requires an official translation, this must be requested at the Translations Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
