Chile is a country that firmly believes in sustainable and environmentally sustainable economic development. The effort to achieve a balance between growth, social responsibility and the need to conserve natural resources is part of the hallmark that characterizes companies with a presence in Chile.

National exporters are in a constant process of certification of their processes, so that environmental standards and quality under international frameworks are present in the products and services that are delivered to the world.

As a commercially active nation, Chile was an early adopter of key international standards such as good agricultural and manufacturing practices, product traceability, the HACCP system and corporate social responsibility. These procedures and standards help to guarantee healthy and safe products and a commitment to workers' safety, stakeholder rights and environmental protection.

In addition, recognizing that investing in the environment makes good business sense, Chilean companies have become key players in the Clean Development Mechanism, established under the Kyoto Protocol.
